Getting you back in without wrecking the door

There is a right way to open a locked vehicle and several wrong ways. The wrong ways bend the door frame, tear the weather seal, scratch the paint, or damage the wiring that runs through the door. A door that has been forced badly never seals quite the same way afterwards, and the repair costs a great deal more than the lockout did.

We use proper lockout tools and take the time to do it without damage. Modern vehicles have side airbags, wiring harnesses and sensors packed into the door structure, which is a good reason not to let someone attack it with a coat hanger.

Before you call, check three things

Not because we mind coming out — because occasionally the answer is free and takes ten seconds.

  • Every door and the tailgate. People check the driver’s door, conclude they are locked out, and stop. Rear doors and hatches are missed constantly.
  • Your spare. If someone can bring it, that is faster and cheaper than anything we can do. Worth one phone call before ours.
  • Your phone app. A lot of newer vehicles unlock remotely through the manufacturer’s app, and plenty of owners have never set it up or have forgotten it exists.

A child or a pet locked in the car is an emergency. Call 911 first. Heat builds inside a closed vehicle far faster than people expect, and on a summer day in Missouri it becomes dangerous in minutes. Emergency services will get the vehicle open immediately. Call them, then call us if you still need help afterwards.

What we need to know on the phone

Year, make and model, and where the vehicle is. That tells us which tools come out of the truck. Newer vehicles with deadlocking, laminated glass or reinforced door structures take a different approach from a fifteen year old pickup.

We will also ask you to show that the vehicle is yours — registration, insurance, or a license matching the paperwork. Any lockout company that does not ask is one you should think twice about.

Where lockouts happen in St. Charles County

Retail parking is the big one: the Mid Rivers corridor in St. Peters, the shopping centers along Hwy K in O’Fallon, and the Wentzville Parkway stores. Then there is Historic Main Street and the riverfront, where visitors in rental and unfamiliar vehicles account for a noticeable share.

Gas stations are their own category — people leave the engine running, shut the door, and the vehicle locks itself. Trailheads along the Katy Trail produce the ones where nobody is around to help.

When to call us for this

Keys visible on the seat

The most common version. Straightforward for us, maddening for you.

Keys locked in the trunk

Access usually has to come through the cabin first. Tell us on the phone so we plan for it.

Engine running and doors locked

Happens at gas stations constantly. Worth treating as urgent — the vehicle is running unattended.

Key fob battery died

Many vehicles hide a physical key inside the fob and a lock cylinder under a cover on the door handle. We can often talk you through it.

Locked out at a trailhead or park

Nobody around and no spare nearby. This is the one people wait longest on — call sooner.

Child or pet inside

Call 911 immediately. Do not wait for a tow truck.

Why a local operator matters

A lockout is pure response time. The job itself takes minutes; the waiting is the whole experience. Trucks that dispatch from inside the county get to a parking lot in St. Peters considerably faster than trucks that have to cross the Missouri River first.

We are based at 1890 1st Capitol Dr. #553 in St. Charles and we hold the St. Charles County towing license, which is approved by the County Chief of Police and renewed every year. That is not a formality — it means the county knows who we are, and it is a meaningful difference from an out-of-county operator who happened to answer the phone.

Questions

Lockout Service — Common Questions

Will you damage my car getting in?
That is the entire point of calling someone with proper tools instead of improvising. We open vehicles without damage as a matter of routine.
Do you need proof the car is mine?
Yes. Registration, insurance paperwork or a license that matches. Any company that skips that step is not one you want opening cars in your neighborhood.
Can you open newer vehicles with deadlocks?
Usually yes. Tell us the year, make and model when you call so the right tools come out.
How long will it take you to get here?
Depends where you are and what is already running. Call (636) 466-8097 and we will give you a realistic estimate, not an optimistic one.
Can you make me a new key?
No — key cutting and programming is a locksmith or dealer job. We get you back into the vehicle.
What if the keys are locked in the trunk?
Often we get in through the cabin and release the trunk from there. It depends on the vehicle, so mention it when you call.
Do you charge more at night?
Ask when you call and we will tell you the price before we dispatch. We would rather you know up front.
My key fob is dead — can you help?
Frequently, yes. A lot of fobs contain a hidden mechanical key and the door has a concealed lock cylinder. We can often walk you through it on the phone for free.
