Towing on Highway 94

From St. Charles down through the wine country to Augusta. Two lanes, curves, bluffs, and a long way from a garage.

● 24/7 highway response ● County licensed ● Insured drivers

On the shoulder right now? Get out of the traffic side of the vehicle, put your hazards on, and if you can do it safely, stand well back from the road behind a barrier. Then call (636) 466-8097 and tell us the highway, the direction you were traveling, and the last exit or mile marker you passed. That is all we need to find you.

A highway with two personalities

Highway 94 starts in St. Charles as an ordinary suburban arterial, running south past Harvester and Cottleville with traffic lights, shopping and turning traffic.

Then, somewhere around Weldon Spring, it changes completely. It becomes a two-lane road through the Missouri River bluffs, running southwest past the Busch Conservation Area, through Defiance and out to Augusta. Curves, hills, no shoulder to speak of, and long stretches with nothing on them.

Those two halves produce completely different calls, and that is why this corridor gets its own page.

The rural half is where it gets serious

No shoulder. In much of the southern stretch there is barely anywhere to get a vehicle off the road, and what there is is soft. One wheel off in the wet and you need a winch-out.

Deer. River valley, wooded bluffs, dawn and dusk. It is a leading cause of the accident recovery calls we run out here, and the damage frequently makes the vehicle undrivable.

Gravel on the bends. Rain washes gravel and debris from the bluffs onto the road. Motorcyclists in particular find it.

Patchy cell coverage. The valley and the bluffs create dead spots. If you have a signal, use it before you lose it.

Long distances between services. Running out of fuel here is a bigger problem than running out in town.

Weekend visitor traffic. Wineries, the Katy Trail, and a lot of drivers who do not know the road.

Highway 94 is one of the best motorcycle roads in eastern Missouri, and we run a lot of motorcycle transport calls because of it. If you have come off, get yourself checked first — call 911 if there is any doubt. The bike will still be there.

The suburban half

Between St. Charles and Weldon Spring, Highway 94 behaves like any busy suburban arterial: heavy turning traffic, shopping centers, subdivision entrances, and the low-speed collisions that go with them. Lockouts and dead batteries in the parking lots along it are routine work.

Whichever half you are on, the same number reaches us: (636) 466-8097, 24 hours a day.

What we bring to a highway call

Highway work is different from a driveway. Traffic is moving fast, the shoulder is narrow in places, and the priority is getting you and the vehicle off the road before anything else. Our drivers are insured, our trucks are marked, and we work highway calls every week across St. Charles County.

Whether it ends up being a tire change, a jump start, fuel, a winch-out, accident recovery or a straight tow, one call covers it.

Other corridors we cover

We also run I-70, I-64 / US-40, Highway 370 and the Discovery Bridge, Highway 364 / Page Avenue, Highway 79 north along the river and the Blanchette Bridge.

Questions

Highway 94 Towing — Common Questions

Do you cover the rural part of Highway 94?
Yes, all the way to Augusta. A lot of companies will not make that drive; it is part of our normal run.
I hit a deer on 94. What do I do?
Check everyone is alright and call 911 if anyone is hurt. Then call us — deer damage often means the vehicle should not be driven, even if it starts.
My phone signal is bad out here. What should I do?
Call while you have bars. Give us the highway, your direction, and the last thing you passed — a winery, a crossroads, a bridge.
There is nowhere to pull off. Where should I stop?
As far right as you safely can, hazards on, and get out on the non-traffic side. If a wheel drops off the edge, that becomes a winch-out — which we handle.
Do you transport motorcycles from Highway 94?
Regularly. Soft ties, a wheel chock and compressed forks so the bike arrives the way it left.
How long will it take you to reach Defiance or Augusta?
Longer than a call in town, and we will give you an honest number when you call (636) 466-8097.
