Rural western St. Charles County. Two-lane roads, long distances between anything, and very few tow companies willing to make the trip.
New Melle is a small town in the western part of St. Charles County, reached mainly by Highway D, Highway Z and Highway F. It is farm country and acreage, with a historic village core and a scattering of subdivisions on larger lots.
What matters practically is that it is a long way from everything. The nearest interstate is I-70 at Wentzville to the north, and I-64 is a similar distance south. Between them are two-lane roads, and a breakdown out here is a genuinely isolated situation.
Nothing nearby when it happens. A flat tire in a parking lot is an inconvenience. The same flat on Highway D at nine at night is a different problem entirely.
Deer. Rural Missouri, two-lane roads, dawn and dusk. It is a real and regular cause of vehicle damage out here, and the aftermath is accident recovery.
Soft shoulders and ditches. Rural roads have drop-offs rather than curbs. One wheel off in the wet and you need a winch-out, not a tow.
Running out of fuel. The distances between stations are longer than people from the eastern half of the county expect. See fuel delivery.
Farm and equipment trailers. Bearings and tires fail out here like everywhere else, just further from help. See trailer towing.
Plenty of tow companies quietly decline the rural west of the county. We do not. New Melle, Defiance and Augusta are part of our normal coverage, not an exception we make reluctantly. Call (636) 466-8097.
Out here an address is often less useful than a description. The highway you are on, the direction you were heading, and the last recognizable thing you passed — a crossroads, a church, a farm gate, a bridge — gets a driver to you faster than a rural route number.
If your phone has a signal, a location pin is the best thing you can send. If the signal is marginal, make the call first and worry about the pin second.
Most New Melle calls are emergency towing and roadside assistance — jump starts, flat tires, lockouts and running out of fuel. We also do accident recovery, winch-outs, long distance towing, motorcycle transport, commercial and fleet work and abandoned vehicle removal.
Every driver is insured, every truck is dispatched from inside St. Charles County, and we answer the phone at any hour. Call (636) 466-8097.
