Highway 94, the Katy Trail and the wineries. Beautiful country, and a long way from a garage when something stops working.
Defiance sits on Highway 94 in the Missouri River valley, at the heart of what everyone here calls the wine country. The Katy Trail runs through it, the Daniel Boone Home is nearby, and there are wineries and tasting rooms along the highway in both directions.
That combination — a scenic two-lane highway, weekend visitors, cyclists, motorcycles, and tasting rooms — produces a very particular set of calls, concentrated heavily on Saturdays and Sundays from spring through fall.
Highway 94 itself. Curves, elevation changes, gravel washed onto bends after rain, and drivers who do not know the road. See Highway 94 towing.
Motorcycles. Highway 94 is one of the better riding roads in eastern Missouri, which is exactly why we get bike calls here. See motorcycle transport.
Trailhead parking. Katy Trail users leave vehicles for hours. Dead batteries and lockouts, often at dusk with nobody else around.
Winery parking lots. Gravel and grass overflow parking, vehicles sitting for a long afternoon, and occasionally a vehicle that needs to be left overnight and collected. We can move it either way.
Deer and wildlife. River valley, wooded bluffs, dawn and dusk. A consistent cause of accident recovery calls out here.
If the right answer is to leave the car and get a ride home, that is fine. Call us and we will move the vehicle when it suits — that is a much better outcome than driving when you should not. We are not going to lecture anybody about it.
Defiance is a long way from the towns where tow companies actually base themselves, and a lot of them will quietly not come. We cover it as part of our normal run, along with Augusta and New Melle.
Cell coverage in the river valley can be patchy. If you have a signal, call and send a location pin. The highway, your direction and the last winery or crossroads you passed is enough for us to find you.
Most Defiance calls are emergency towing and roadside assistance — jump starts, flat tires, lockouts and running out of fuel. We also do accident recovery, winch-outs, long distance towing, motorcycle transport, commercial and fleet work and abandoned vehicle removal.
Every driver is insured, every truck is dispatched from inside St. Charles County, and we answer the phone at any hour. Call (636) 466-8097.
